Dplus KIA Qualify for BLAST R6 Major Osaka, Deny CAG Home Major
The Brazilian squad defeated CAG by VARREL in the APAC North League grand final, ending Japan's hopes for a home team at the Major.
Dplus KIA have qualified for the BLAST R6 Major Osaka after defeating CAG by VARREL in the BLAST R6 APAC North League 2026 Stage 2 grand final.
The Brazilians crushed the Japanese team's dream of playing at their home Major with a one-sided display on Clubhouse.
Dplus KIA seemed in full control after building a 6-1 lead on Fortress, but CAG managed to push the map to overtime.
Despite doing the hardest part, the Japanese couldn't finish the job as Dplus KIA ended up securing an 8-7 win.
This defeat means they won't be able to play at their home BLAST R6 Major.
It's the first time since the Six Invitational 2026 that the Cyclops miss out on an international event.
CAG's day began with a 2-1 victory against SCARZ, but they then suffered back-to-back defeats on Clubhouse and Fortress to Dplus KIA.
With the Brazilians grabbing the victory, this means that no Japanese teams will take part in the BLAST R6 Major Osaka.
Curiously, the same happened at the Pro League Season 10 Finals, played in Tokoname, Japan, where no Japanese team qualified for the event.
Although this result will sadden the Japanese community, this is great news for the Brazilian fans who support Dplus KIA.
It will be the team's first international event since the Six Invitational 2026 and keeps Dplus KIA's Six Invitational 2027 hopes alive.
To reach Osaka's Swiss Stage, Dplus KIA will have to survive the initial play-ins, which also include the current BLAST R6 Major champions DarkZero Esports, the three Chinese teams All Gamers, TYLOO, and KINGZERO eSports, as well as other powerful sides including Virtus.pro, LOS, and Weibo Gaming.
Redington Cybersport reported in September that the BLAST R6 Major Osaka will be held in Japan in November.
