Fortnite's Pirate Shop Offers Free Item Shop for 14 Days to Lucky Players
The rare prize, found in chests during the Treasure Hunters mini-season, grants two 14-day windows to claim V-Buck items for free.

Fortnite's Treasure Hunters mini-season launched on November 1 with a rare prize that makes the entire Item Shop free for 14 days.
The prize, called the Pirate Shop Access token, is a random drop from chests in Battle Royale mode.
Dataminer HYPEX reported that the Pirate Shop is in the Treasure Hunt prize pool every week.
"Activate the Pirate Shop to plunder the Fortnite Item Shop for 14 days from time of activation," the in-game item description states.
How does the Pirate Shop work?
Winning the Pirate Shop grants two separate activation tokens, one for 2026 and one for 2027.
The 14-day free period for each token only begins when a player manually activates it.
The first activation window runs from November 1 to December 15, 2026, and the second runs from January 1 to December 15, 2027.
If a player finds the token while in a squad, all teammates also receive the prize.
Treasures are shared across the party.
The redemption windows are currently listed as Nov 1 , Dec 16 and Jan 1, Dec 16, 2027.
One win gets you two separate free shop periods.
What are the limits of the free shop?
Players cannot use the Pirate Shop to claim real-money offers, send gifts, or purchase Battle Pass levels.
Players can also only claim one free Sidekick they don’t already own.
You also can’t use it to gift items to friends.
Items claimed through the Pirate Shop are permanent additions to a player's account, and Jam Tracks are included, a player named snowslept confirmed.
One player, snowslept, found the token on the season's first day after opening around 150 chests in a normal Solos lobby.
"Some people asked me to show on replays how the chest looked and it looked like any other chest, so I guess it’s really random," they wrote on X.
In a follow-up, they confirmed that items claimed through the Pirate Shop are permanent and that Jam Tracks are included.
How did players react to the launch?
Player numbers surged on November 1, with HYPEX reporting a peak of nearly five million concurrent players.
He specified over 2.1 million were in Battle Royale and over 615,000 were in UGC or Creative maps, with another two million or so sitting in lobbies.
The peak was more than five million.
Another tracker recorded approximately 2.16 million concurrent Battle Royale players at 19:20 UTC on November 1, with the total connected population exceeding 4.2 million during the day.
The high traffic caused login queues, with Fortnite bot data indicating a peak wait time of 12 minutes, although some Twitter users claimed to be waiting even longer than that.
This peak did not set a new record, as the all-time concurrent peak at 14,343,880 set on November 30, 2024.
The OG season launch in November 2023 also beat it, peaking at 5.8 million concurrent players, the highest for the game in many, many years.
What is the Treasure Hunters mini-season?
The Treasure Hunters mini-season runs from November 1 to December 5 on a map called Crossbones Isle.
Matches on the smaller map feature 80 players instead of the usual 100, and include One Piece locations like Arlong Park and Windmill Village.
The pirate-themed mini-season features collaborations with A$AP Rocky, Lil Uzi Vert, and Hatsune Miku.
New shop items include Luffy, Nami and Usopp at launch, then A$AP Rocky on November 5 at 7 PM ET.
Zoro, Sanji and the Chopper Sidekick follow on November 7, Lil Uzi Vert on November 12, and Buggy on November 13. Kasane Teto and Cap’n Hatsune Miku arrive on November 14.
Leaked details of the mini-season’s Adventure menu show A$AP Rocky and the Straw Hats leading week one, before Lil Uzi Vert, Cuddle Team Leader and Buggy arrive in week two.
Hatsune Miku and Kasane Teto take over the Rubber Resort in week three, followed by Oscar in week four, before a final hunt in week five brings back fan-favorite weapons.
Fortnite is facing down the launch of GTA VI in late November.
A free Item Shop looks like Fortnite’s answer to Rockstar’s game.
Epic Games has not shared the odds of landing the Pirate Shop, and HYPEX said it’s not yet clear if there’s a limit on how often it drops.
