Gen.G Sweeps LYON to Reach Worlds 2026 Semifinals, Ends North America's Run
The LCK top seed will face Invictus Gaming for a spot in the final, while LYON's elimination removes the last LCS team.

Gen.G defeated LYON 3-0 in the second Worlds 2026 quarterfinal in Allen, Texas, advancing to the semifinals and eliminating North America's last team from the tournament.
The LCK top seed now faces Invictus Gaming in a best-of-five semifinal on Saturday, starting at 16:00 Central Time.
Gen.G entered the series with the better record, which gave them first choice of side, and they picked and stayed on blue side for all three games.
"Gen.G swept LYON in the second Worlds 2026 quarter-final in Allen, Texas," one report said.
The sweep means Gen.G is guaranteed at least third or fourth place and a share of the $5,000,000 prize pool, a familiar stopping point for the organization which has finished third or fourth at four of its last five Worlds and has never played in a final.
Game one lasted 32 minutes, with Gen.G finishing with 19 kills to LYON's 8.
Game two was the shortest of the series, ending in just over 25 minutes, as Ruler stood out on Ashe and Canyon stole a dragon on Jarvan IV before Gen.G used the Baron buff to break into LYON's base.
Game three came down to a Dragon Soul fight where Gen.G took back control, claimed Baron and wiped all five LYON players without losing anyone.
Top laner Kiin controlled his lane for the whole series.
The sweep was more one-sided than the teams' first meeting, a 2-1 Gen.G win in the Swiss Stage on October 25 where Kiin was named MVP.
That one LYON win was the only game Gen.G conceded to any opponent during the Swiss Stage.
For LYON, the exit still marks clear progress, as they go out in joint fifth to eighth place and collect a share of the prize money.
Before this year, the organization had made four Worlds appearances and never climbed above 17th place.
Their elimination also changes the shape of the event, as North America will have no representative in the semifinals or the Grand Final.
For Gen.G, the semifinal is familiar ground, putting them in a Worlds semifinal for the third year running as they chase a first final.
The stakes go beyond one team, as Korean sides are chasing a fifth Summoner's Cup in a row.
Their opponents bring their own history, as Invictus Gaming beat Top Esports 3-1 in the opening quarterfinal to reach their first Worlds semifinal since 2019.
TheShy and Rookie, who won Worlds with iG in 2018, are back in the last four.
Gen.G already beat iG once, in a best-of-one match in the first round of the Swiss Stage.
The champion of Worlds 2026 will take $1,000,000, while the runner-up receives $800,000.
The Grand Final is scheduled for 14:00 EST on November 14.
British fans will have a dedicated place to watch it, as the British Esports Federation is holding a watch party at the new British Arena in Sunderland, the venue's first esports watch party.
The arena covers 15,000 sq ft, has a 17-metre-wide LED screen, a 200-seat viewing area and a bar, and students can get discounted tickets.
The Sunderland watch party runs from 5:30pm on the day of the final until 1:00am on November 15.
