GameRant Lists Rocket League, Blitzball as Top Video Games to Watch Live
The outlet also named Final Fantasy 10's Blitzball and Supergiant's Pyre as ideal candidates for a live sporting spectacle.

GameRant has compiled a list of video games that would be ideal to watch as live sporting events, with Psyonix's Rocket League and Final Fantasy 10's Blitzball featured prominently.
"I mean, really, who wouldn't want to attend a live Rocket League match?" the outlet's article said, citing the game's "flying cars, crazy maneuvers, last-second goals, stunning comebacks."
It described the esports title as "already one of the best eSports to watch" on screen, but argued a real-world version would be "incredible."
"If I saw an aerial pinch to score a clutch goal in a tight game, I'd be leaping out of my seat," the article said.
The article also highlighted the aquatic sport of Blitzball from Final Fantasy 10, calling a sped-up, close-quarters version of the game "epic."
"For the price of one ticket? I'd be there in a heartbeat," the article said.
It described Blitzball as "an aquatic version of soccer" played in a giant sphere of water, with two teams of five competing in two five-minute periods.
Other games on the list included the vehicular combat series Twisted Metal, though the article noted ethical concerns. "A Demolition Derby starring Sweet Tooth and Mr. Grimm would be awesome, but if it killed one of them, it would put a damper on the proceedings," it said.
Supergiant Games' Pyre was highlighted for its high stakes. "Teams would play like it's the playoffs every single night because they're literally playing for their future," the article said.
It described The Rites in Pyre as "a bit like basketball," with teams trying to throw an orb into the opposing team's pyre.
The monster-themed Mutant Football League also made the list. "It's just football, at the end of the day, but it's being played by monsters with supernatural abilities," the article said, describing fields with buzzsaws and pools of boiling blood.
Nintendo's Pokemon Elite Four challenge was suggested as viable live entertainment. "Watching them at their peak, when they've got the best possible Pokemon team and have bested everyone else, would be a privilege," the article said.
Nintendo's anti-gravity racing series F-Zero was chosen over Star Wars: Galactic Racer for its perceived higher speeds. "I went with F-Zero because I feel like the speeds they reach are quite a bit higher, and there's more opportunity for crazy maneuvers and track designs," the article said.
Rocket League remains a major esport, though its competitive scene has faced recent controversies. Redington Cybersport reported in October that pro player Kofyr was banned until 2027 for a code of conduct violation.
