Garena has placed a banner for Free Fire India inside the game and updated the title's official Google Play page, signaling renewed activity around the long-awaited India-specific version.

The banner appeared starting October 27, 2026, and links to a Garena video, while the Google Play listing received an update on October 10, according to reports.

Gaming creators Desi Gamers, also known as Amit Sharma, and Assassinarmy, whose name is Nayan Shelke, have fueled speculation about an imminent launch.

Desi Gamers said he travelled to Dubai with fellow creators for a promotional shoot related to the game, indicating it would arrive soon on app stores.

Assassinarmy subsequently referred to October 28, 2026, as a possible release date in an Instagram video.

Both creators are associated with Garena's creator programme, but their statements do not amount to an official launch announcement from the developer.

Garena has not officially announced a 2026 launch date, and October 28, the date circulating on social media, remains unconfirmed as of October 26.

The company also renamed its Indian YouTube channels to Free Fire India Official and Free Fire India Esports, dropping the Free Fire MAX branding.

Garena announced Free Fire India in August 2023, with the game initially scheduled to launch on September 5 that year.

However, on September 4, the company postponed its release, saying it needed more time to refine the gameplay experience and never provided a replacement date.

The announcement came after the original Free Fire was blocked in India in February 2022, while Free Fire MAX continued to remain available.

Garena had positioned the India-specific edition as a version tailored to local requirements, with plans for localised features, player-safety measures and infrastructure arrangements.

The company also announced cricketer MS Dhoni as the game's brand ambassador in 2023.

The Google Play listing for Free Fire India describes familiar gameplay modes including Classic Battle Royale and Clash Squad, as well as the Craftland map-creation feature and a roster of over 50 characters.

The listing also gives a dedicated support email for the India version: [email protected].

The India-specific version was also planned with player-safety features such as playtime reminders, spending controls and parental supervision.

As of October 26, the game cannot be downloaded, the Google Play page has no install or pre-registration button, and Garena has not confirmed iOS availability.

Garena has also not explained how player accounts, progress and purchases in Free Fire MAX would work alongside the India edition.

Leaks and industry reports suggest Garena has broader plans for Indian esports, including rebranding the Free Fire MAX India Cup with a World Series India title and increasing prize pools.

According to the leaks, Free Fire MAX is reported to run inside Free Fire India, and players will not lose access to the current version.

Players are advised to avoid unofficial APK files shared on platforms like YouTube or Telegram, as they can carry malware or put accounts at risk.

Redington Cybersport reported in October that a new guide details how to tune sensitivity settings for the game.
