Zero7 Esports to Host Belagavi’s First Major Esports Championship
The event will feature tournaments for BGMI, Free Fire India, and Chess, aiming to build a structured competitive gaming scene in the city.

Zero7 Esports, an esports initiative by Sociobricks, has announced plans to organize the first major esports championship in Belagavi.
The upcoming tournament aims to bring together gaming communities, competitive players, college students, esports teams and gaming enthusiasts under one platform.
The championship is expected to feature popular competitive gaming titles, including Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI), Free Fire India and Chess, alongside other gaming competitions.
With this initiative, Zero7 Esports aims to introduce a more organised esports ecosystem in Belagavi and provide local players with opportunities to participate in structured tournaments.
The initiative is focused on developing opportunities for players who want to move beyond casual gaming and participate in competitive esports environments.
The proposed championship will bring players from different gaming communities together, creating opportunities for individual participants, professional and amateur teams, college gaming clubs and emerging esports talent.
One of the major attractions of the upcoming championship will be the BGMI Tournament, featuring Battlegrounds Mobile India, one of India's most popular competitive mobile battle royale games.
The BGMI competition is expected to bring together teams competing in structured matches, where performance, survival, strategy, teamwork and eliminations will determine the final standings.
The tournament is intended to follow KRAFTON India's official esports tournament requirements and applicable competition guidelines.
The championship will also feature a Free Fire India Tournament, bringing another major mobile gaming community into Belagavi's competitive esports landscape.
The proposed Free Fire India competition aims to provide players with a platform to participate in organised matches, compete with other teams and demonstrate their gaming abilities.
Zero7 Esports intends to conduct the competition in accordance with applicable Free Fire India esports rules, publisher requirements and event authorisation conditions.
Redington Cybersport reported in October that Garena launched Free Fire India with a Diwali event and safety features.
Zero7 Esports also plans to include Chess and other competitive gaming formats, allowing participants with different gaming interests to become part of the event.
By including Chess alongside mobile esports titles, Zero7 aims to create a more inclusive gaming environment that attracts participants beyond traditional esports audiences.
The organisers aim to establish a consistent competitive gaming culture in Belagavi, with future plans potentially extending to additional tournaments, gaming leagues, college-level competitions and larger esports events.
The organisers also aim to introduce transparent match management, team registration, scoring systems, leaderboard management and structured tournament operations.
The organisers will communicate the tournament format, eligibility requirements, registration procedure and competition rules before the event.
The initiative could also create opportunities for people working behind the scenes in esports, including tournament administrators, shoutcasters, commentators, event managers, production teams, graphic designers, content creators and technical operators.
The upcoming championship also presents an opportunity for brands interested in reaching India's gaming and youth audiences.
Zero7 Esports aims to create opportunities for collaboration with gaming hardware companies, smartphone brands, energy drink companies, technology providers, internet service providers and other consumer-facing businesses.
