Modern Warfare 4 Reveals Counter-Strike-Inspired Collateral Mode and PC Specs
The new round-based mode features an in-game economy and disables killstreaks and custom loadouts, targeting competitive players.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will feature a new multiplayer mode called Collateral, which draws heavy inspiration from competitive shooters like Counter-Strike and Valorant.
Infinity Ward revealed the mode in a recent blog post, describing it as being "designed for fans of Search and Destroy and those from the more competitive community."
Collateral is a single-life mode where two teams attack and defend two bomb sites, taking turns on each side.
Unlike traditional Search and Destroy, players do not start with custom loadouts.
Everyone begins with a pistol and earns cash by eliminating enemies and playing the objective, which can be spent between rounds on weapons, equipment, armor, and Perks.
"The economy adds an extra layer of strategy to every round, as money carries over throughout the match, allowing players to save their cash for more powerful purchases later on," the developers said.
However, dying means losing everything purchased for that round.
The buy menu includes equipment such as Flash Grenades, Molotov Cocktails, Stims, Riot Shields, and a Smoke Wall.
There is also a Team Buy option for a UAV, suggesting squads can pool their cash together to unlock the Scorestreak.
Several standard Call of Duty mechanics are disabled in Collateral, including respawns, Killstreaks, automatic health regeneration, and custom loadouts.
The developers said more details on how the economy and matches work in practice will be revealed closer to the game's launch on October 23.
Activision also released the full PC specifications and feature breakdown for Modern Warfare 4, which launches on October 23 on Xbox, PC, Battle.net, and Steam.
Beenox is leading the PC version, with a headline target of 90 FPS at Recommended specs without manual tweaking.
The game auto-configures settings and offers over 800 customization options across graphics, gameplay, input, and interface.
It supports NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR Redstone, Intel XeSS 3, Filmic SMAA T2X, and ray tracing in Campaign, Multiplayer, and DMZ.
A built-in Benchmark Tool runs a simulated multiplayer sequence and provides performance data and setting suggestions.
New gameplay-focused features include Enhanced FOV, a PC-exclusive option that widens the view at screen edges, and revised weapon bloom where shots follow the weapon's barrel position instead of random spread.
Minimum PC specs require Windows 10 64-bit, an AMD Ryzen 5 1400 or Intel Core i5-6600, 8GB of RAM, and a Radeon RX 470, GeForce GTX 970 or 1060, or Intel Arc A580 with 3GB of video memory.
Recommended specs for 90 FPS on High settings ask for Windows 11, a Ryzen 5 3600 or Core i7-8700K, 16GB of RAM, and a Radeon RX 6600 XT, GeForce RTX 3060 Ti or Intel Arc B580 with 8GB of video memory.
For High quality ray tracing at 4K upscaled, the requirements are a Ryzen 7 3700X or Core i7-10700K, 32GB of RAM, and a Radeon RX 9070 XT or GeForce RTX 5070 Ti with 16GB of video memory.
All tiers require 115GB of storage on an SSD, and TPM 2.0 and Secure Boot are mandatory to play on PC, tying into the RICOCHET Anti-Cheat system.
Digital pre-orders on PC can preload from October 15 at 9 AM PT, with Campaign Early Access starting on October 16 in the US.
