Campeonato Brasileiro de League of Legends

The Campeonato Brasileiro de League of Legends, known as CBLOL, is the premier professional League of Legends league for Brazil and Southern Latin America. It is the region's most important competition, with its champions qualifying for major international events. After a brief merger into a pan-American league, CBLOL was reinstated as an independent league in 2026.

History and Evolution

The Campeonato Brasileiro de League of Legends began in 2012, shortly after the launch of the Brazilian server. Its early years featured a simple three-day tournament format. The league structure evolved significantly in 2014 with the introduction of the Brazilian League, Champions Series and the establishment of two annual competitions. A stable league format with promotion and relegation was adopted in 2015.

In 2020, Riot Brazil confirmed that CBLOL would move to a franchising model. A major structural change occurred in 2025 when CBLOL merged with North America's LCS and Latin America's LLA to form the League of Legends Championship of The Americas. Six of the ten CBLOL teams formed the South Conference of this new league. However, this pan-American experiment was short-lived. Riot Games discontinued the LTA in September 2025 and revived CBLOL as an independent league beginning in 2026.

Competition Format

The CBLOL annual season is divided into multiple splits. Historically, it operated on a two-split system, but the current format features three splits per year. Each split's regular season uses a single round-robin format where every team plays each other.

The competition begins with the Copa CBLOL, an eight-team tournament played over three weeks. Matches in this initial phase are best of one. The top four teams advance directly to the playoffs, while the remaining teams enter an Entry Phase to compete for the final playoff spots. Following the Copa, Splits 1 and 2 are played. These involve eight teams competing over seven weeks in a single round-robin, with matches being best of three using the Fearless Draft system. The top six teams from these splits advance to the playoffs.

The winners of each split earn qualification for major international tournaments. The Split 1 champion qualifies for the First Stand event, the Split 2 champion for the Mid-Season Invitational, and the Split 3 champion for the League of Legends World Championship.

Broadcast and Venue

With rare exceptions for touring events, all CBLOL matches are played live at the dedicated Riot Games Arena in São Paulo. The league maintains a strong presence on digital streaming platforms. Every game is broadcast live on both Twitch and YouTube, ensuring wide accessibility for fans across Brazil and the world.

In addition to online streams, live games are also televised on Xsports. Previously, in 2017, the league's matches were broadcast on the SporTV network. This combination of a physical studio audience and multi-platform broadcasting has helped make CBLOL a central part of Brazilian esports culture.

The Pan-American Experiment

In June 2024, Riot Games announced a major restructuring that would merge CBLOL with the LCS and LLA into a single pan-American league called the League of Legends Championship of The Americas, set to begin in 2025. Under this plan, CBLOL would become the South Conference.

Only six of the ten existing CBLOL partnered teams remained for this new conference. The teams INTZ, KaBuM! Esports, Liberty, and Los Grandes left the league after the 2024 season. KaBuM! Esports moved to a revived Challenging Circuit, which once again became Brazil's second division. The South Conference was also joined by a team from southern Latin America, Leviatán, and a guest slot determined by a promotion tournament.

This unified league lasted only for the 2025 season. The South Conference's third split served as a qualifier for the World Championship, with Vivo Keyd Stars earning the spot. By September 2025, the decision was reversed, and the separate leagues, including CBLOL, were reinstated for 2026.
