Early Career and Rise with LGD
Ame began his professional Dota 2 career with the youth squad of CDEC Gaming. He moved to LGD Gaming the following year, marking the start of a long association. His early success with LGD came quickly, as the team secured their first tier 1 tournament victory at the Mars Dota 2 League in 2017.
This victory was followed by a strong fourth-place finish at The International 2017, establishing Ame and LGD as a force on the global stage. Throughout 2018, the team accumulated multiple tournament wins and entered The International 2018 as one of the favorites to win the entire event.
The International Heartbreak
Ame's career has been closely tied to The International, Dota 2's world championship, where he has experienced both success and painful defeats. In 2018, LGD reached the grand finals of TI8 but lost in a close five-game series to OG.
The following year, the team finished in third place at TI9. After a roster shuffle, Ame returned to a reformed PSG.LGD squad in 2020. This team dominated the competitive season, winning the AniMajor and securing a direct invite to The International 2021, where they were considered heavy favorites.
PSG.LGD had a spectacular run at TI10, losing only two games en route to the finals. In another dramatic championship series, they were defeated 3-2 by Team Spirit. This pattern of coming agonizingly close to the Aegis of Champions became a defining narrative of Ame's career.
Hiatus and Return
After a fifth-place finish at The International 2022, Ame announced a break from competitive play and was moved to inactive status by PSG.LGD in July 2022. During his year-long hiatus, he focused on streaming and personal matters.
In December 2023, Ame ended his retirement by joining Xtreme Gaming as part of their roster rebuild for the 2024 season. His return was highly anticipated in the Chinese Dota 2 community, reuniting him with former teammates and coaches. Despite winning several tournaments with Xtreme Gaming, the team's results at The International 2024 were limited to a 5th-6th place finish.
Recent Moves and Continued Pursuit
Following The International 2024, Ame's journey took several turns. After a tournament with disappointing results, he briefly left Xtreme Gaming to join Gaozu. This move did not yield success, and in December 2024, he joined Yakult Brothers.
By March 2025, however, Ame had returned to Xtreme Gaming once more, reuniting with coach Xiao8 for another roster rebuild. This iteration of the team found success in qualifying for The International 2025. At that tournament, Ame and Xtreme Gaming advanced to the grand final, but in a familiar story, they lost 3-2 to Team Falcons.
Player Profile and Legacy
Ame plays the carry role, also known as position 1, a high-pressure position responsible for securing late-game victories. He is known by an alternate in-game name, 萧瑟. With career earnings exceeding $4.3 million, he stands as China's highest-earning esports player.
His consistent performance at the highest level, marked by multiple top-three finishes at The International, has kept him as one of China's most recognizable Dota 2 stars. Despite the lack of an International championship, his skill and longevity have earned him significant respect, though his career arc also makes him a figure of discussion and sometimes controversy within the fan community.
