Early Life and Inspiration

Preston Blaine Arsement was born in Texas on May 4, 1994. He is the eldest of three half-siblings, with two half-brothers and one half-sister. His father, David, is a United States Air Force veteran and serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Arsement's company. His mother, Jaye, is the Chief Executive Officer of the company, having previously worked for telecommunications firms AT&T and Southwestern Bell.

His introduction to video games came at the age of four with Sonic the Hedgehog on the Sega Genesis. As a teenager, he spent time watching many videos about the game RuneScape. The direct inspiration to start his own YouTube career came from watching the channel of the creator known as HuskyStarcraft.

YouTube Career and Channel Evolution

Arsement created his first YouTube channel, TBNRfrags, in November 2010. The channel's original focus was gameplay from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. It later expanded to include content from Call of Duty: Black Ops. In 2017, the TBNRfrags channel began to feature the popular battle royale game Fortnite.

In 2012, he established a separate channel dedicated to Minecraft, which became known as PrestonPlayz. This channel originally posted videos about Minecraft Pocket Edition. A major strategic shift happened in 2018. Arsement moved his primary gaming content to a separate channel and refocused his main channel on lifestyle, vlog, and challenge content. This change led to a period of substantial growth for his channel.

Business Ventures and Collaborations

Arsement's activities extended into business and management in 2017. That year, he started working with the talent management company Night. He also went on his first tour, hosting meet-and-greet events at six Main Event Entertainment centers located near Dallas.

In 2018, he joined the esports organization Envy Gaming in a dual role as an investor and a content creator. Also in 2018, he was paired with the rapper Lil Yachty for a celebrity-content creator tournament in Fortnite, highlighting his presence in events that blend gaming with mainstream entertainment.

Personal Life and Community

Preston Arsement married Brianna Barnhart in 2017. The couple lives in Dallas, Texas. He publicly identifies as a Messianic Christian, a faith he references in his online profiles. For recreation, he enjoys playing paintball.

He describes his online community as being fueled by fun, family, and faith. His stated goal is to build a special community where people can game, grow, and enjoy life together. This personal philosophy shapes the content across his channels, which includes not only games but also prank and skit videos.

Content Style and Legacy

PrestonPlayz is known for a high-energy, accessible style that appeals to a broad audience. His content spans several of the most popular gaming franchises, with a long-standing emphasis on Minecraft. On his Minecraft channel, he creates challenge videos, mod movies, and series with imaginative concepts, such as evolving characters or dealing with unusual in-game rules.

His ability to adapt and diversify his content from core gameplay to lifestyle vlogs has been important for his sustained relevance. By establishing distinct channels for different types of content, he has built a brand that covers multiple areas. His work includes a television series, PrestonPlayz Season 1, which took viewers into the world of Minecraft to tackle battles and challenges.
